What to do with WinRAR?
It is especially useful for sharing documents by e-mail or for creating a single archive containing the entire contents of a directory.
How to use it ?
Like most of its competitors, WinRAR integrates directly into the Windows Explorer and allows to compress or unzip files via the context menu accessible with a simple right mouse click.The software also provides advanced features such as password archive protection, testing archived files for possible repairs, or a benchmarking module to evaluate PC performance in file compression.
Formats compatible with WinRAR
The software developed by RARLAB primarily manages its own .RAR format. It also supports the most common archive formats namely extensions zip and ZIPX specific WinZip , the 7Z of the excellent open source 7-Zip and formats CAB, TAR, ARJ, LZH, gzip, BZ2 , TAR.GZ, ACE UUE, JAR and ISO .The RAR5 format is also managed by the software and can improve the compression and decompression of large files. It also brings improved performance on machines equipped with multi-core processors.
Limitations of the trial version : The demo version is well known for its 40-day limitation but can still be functional after this time.
