iOS 12.1.4 is available: Apple finally corrects the evil FaceTime bug

A week after discovering a bug allowing anyone to listen to you thanks to FaceTime, Apple has just updated its iPhone and iPad. iOS 12.1.4 is available.

As promised last week, Apple has released iOS 12.1.4, a corrective update of the iPhone and iPad operating system eliminating the FaceTime bug . Since October, it was possible to divert the function "FaceTime group" to access the microphone of someone else's iPhone without it has to answer. A bug revealed by 9to5mac Monday, January 28th. Apple had suddenly suspended support for group video calls, cutting servers.

To ensure that you do not listen to and recover FaceTime in its entirety, it is therefore highly recommended to update your iPhone or iPad. Go to Settings → General → Software Update . If your device does not have enough free space, you can still go through iTunes.

IPhone turned into sneaks

Released in October, FaceTime Group (or  Group FaceTime ) can make audio or video calls to several, up to 32 people. A function expected for years, that Apple had probably not completed. By calling someone and adding themselves to the conversation, the other person's microphone was activated automatically without the other party picking up the call. In case of pressing a button (volume or power), the camera was triggered too. A very serious bug, not very consistent with Apple's firm policy on privacy .
With iOS 12.1.4, Apple raises its group calls, this time without surprise "spy mode". What quickly regain the trust of its users? A few days ago, the brand apologized , saying it would strengthen its bug reporting system. Anyway, she will face the anger of some users who want to sue.
