Apple announces by surprise an update of its range of iMac . Point of new design, but an evolution of the proposed configurations, after almost two years without discounting the taste of the day.
After announcing its new iPad , it is the turn of the iMac to be in the spotlight. Apple quietly announces an update of its line of desktops, which retain the same exterior design (and their huge borders around the screen) but see their data sheets reviewed and corrected for the year 2019.
IMacs move to latest generations of Intel processors
GPU side, Apple offers unsurprisingly Radeon Pro chipsprovided by AMD. Depending on the configuration, the iMac will be equipped with the Radeon Pro 555x to 580x for the most upscale configurations. The memory is normally set at 8 GB DDR4 clocked at 2666 MHz, expandable up to 32 GB, or 64 GB for the most expensive models.
Customers who want the best graphics performance on their iMacs will also be able to optionally add a Radeon Vega 20 chip for iMac 4K and Vega 48 for 5K models.
Entry price for this technical update at € 1,499
The storage is at least 1 TB but the new most affordable iMac (and we still talk about an entry price of € 1,499) offers only a hard disk tray instead of SSD other models. A pettiness that Apple has unfortunately the secret for many years.
