Ghidra, the cybersecurity tool of the NSA, is now open source

The NSA has made open source Ghidra , a powerful cybersecurity tool that now becomes free for all.

This new inverted engineering software is enough to make cybersecurity experts dream. Having been proven for more than ten years in the NSA, Ghidra is now freely downloadable on the website of the US intelligence agency and soon available on Github. A noteworthy initiative to improve cybersecurity on a global scale.

A powerful and free software

Rule # 1: "  You can not hack anything with Ghidra,  " as reported by Wired. As a reverse engineering tool, Ghidra is "only" a tool for deep malware scanning.

By this optimal understanding, Ghidra allows its users to guard against these malware, as well as to detect any flaws or errors in any other software. Very powerful and now free, Ghidra may be considered as an exceptional rival by its competitors, like IDA, which cost thousands of euros per year ...

Everyone wins ... especially the NSA?

"  We do not claim that [Ghidra] will replace everything  " in the reverse software market, reassures the NSA. Its leader Rob Joyce primarily promotes the tool as "  a contribution to the national cybersecurity community  ," or even the world. But this is not the first time the NSA has released some of its software: Security-Enhanced Linux and Security-Enhanced Android have thus preceded the launch of Ghidra open source.

However, this initiative is not part of the philanthropy of the NSA. If Rob Joyce promised that Ghidra's code did not include "  no backdoor », Its access and understanding will allow prospective NSA candidates to become familiar with its tools. A considerable time and money saving in the training of future recruits of the US intelligence agency.
