Absent the presentation conference of the new P30 and P30 Pro , the youngest of Huawei finally shows the tip of his nose. Formalized in all discretion, the P30 Lite joins the family of next-generation photophones of the Chinese manufacturer.
As expected, the successor of the P20 Lite is the mid-range, imposing some sacrifices on the data sheet. The smartphone, however, retains the triple camera own to its big brothers in the new P30 range.
The mid-range of the photophones
Huawei requires, the P30 Lite seeks to stand out from competitors in the field of mobile photography. If the newcomer does not reach the level of perfection of his elders to more than 800 €, it is nonetheless well equipped with a triple camera at the back . The main module of 24 MP is supported by a wide-angle lens 120 ° of 8 MP and a last camera of 2 MP. Selfie enthusiasts benefit from a 32 MP lens on the front panel. Not bad for mid-range! On the screen side, we say goodbye to the AMOLED panel to go back on the LCD of 6.15 " . Huawei retains drop shaped notch of P30 / P30 Pro, but moves the fingerprint reader to the back of the smartphone. The slab sports however a beautiful definition of 2312 x 1080 px.
For the SoC, there is also a need for concessions. Farewell Kirin 980, the P30 Lite is equipped with a Kirin 710 much less powerful. However, we bet that the 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory will be more than enough for most users. A 3340 mAh battery compatible with the fast charge at 18W should ensure a good endurance to the set.
Finally, no big surprise at the software level. Huawei is taking over Android 9.0 Pie with its overlay EMUI 9.0 home .
Price and availability
If it is not yet present on French stalls, the Huawei P30 Lite is already pre-order on Canadian and Filipino sites. Its price is around 320 to 335 US $. If the official French price has not yet filtered, we can expect it to be close to that of P20 Lite last year, or € 369 .
The expectation is expected to be short-lived as deliveries of the P30 and P30 Pro take place on April 5, 2019. The P30 Lite is expected to be on the market a few days later. It will however face strong part with the Galaxy S10e , mid-range Samsung Galaxy S10 and S10 +.
