Prices and technical specifications
During our test , we criticized the Logitech G933 its very high price of € 229. Good news, the G935 gaming headset is more affordable. It is thus displayed at 189 € on Amazon , a decrease of 30 € compared to the old generation. For less than 200 €, we stay of course on the high end. Logitech has also reviewed its copy on a few points, starting with the adoption of transducers 50 mm against 40 mm previously. The weight is thus increased, the circum-aural helmet displaying no less than 379 grams on the scale. That's 13 grams more than the G933, already considered a heavyweight ...
As for connectivity, the Logitech G935 remains on a mix between 2.4 GHz and wired via 3.5 mm jack. It can be used with the PC, but also the smartphone or console. The purpose, however, is to enjoy it on a computer by managing the settings with the G-Hub software.
To end this overview of the new Logitech headset, let's take a look at the sound specifications. The 50mm G-Pro transducers offer a frequency response from 20Hz to 20KHz. The device is DTS certified: Headphone X 2.0 , offering virtualized 3D sound during the game. Not much new on this side, the old model already offered this kind of function, with however older standards like the DTS: Headphone X.
On paper, the Logitech G935 gaming headset does not bring radical changes. It remains to be seen if the few aesthetic modifications and the years will make a real difference to the use.
Design
We take the same and start again. Visually, it's quite difficult to differentiate the G935 from the G933. The major change is mainly in the adoption of leatherette pads in place of those fabric of the older generation. The atria are also a little wider, perfectly surrounding the ears. After several hours of play, we must admit that the helmet of the famous Swiss designer is really very comfortable . Even with glasses, it does not rest too much on the jaw or the temples. Its high weight left fear the worst, it is not!
On the left atrium, we have the control buttons and the volume wheel. As always, the G buttons are customizable . Basically, they are configured to handle music: pause / play, next song and previous song. But nothing prevents you from setting other profiles according to your needs, it is rather complete on this point.
Gaming headset requires, the Logitech G935 has a microphone, also placed in the left atrium. It works exactly like the G933, retracting at will not to take up space once folded.
Of course, a RGB LED lighting is part of the earpieces, but we recommend that you skip over it so as not to burden the performance of the battery ...
The only thing that finally makes us fear for the longevity of the whole comes from the crunches and squeaks perceived during our tests. Although few, they let guess a design not necessarily at the top. We had already blamed the ancestor of the G935, but it seems that the Swiss manufacturer has not thoroughly improved its design despite the years. It's hard to say if the headphones will last for a long time, as our tests only took place over a week ...
Audio quality
Not surprisingly, the sound produced by the 50 mm G-Pro transducers is of excellent quality. The helmet shows good performances . The bass is very present, but do not interfere with the experience. The mediums are well rendered, offering clear voices. Only the highs seem a little neglected, although there is nothing dramatic. However, we will avoid pushing the sound too hard or it will distort slightly, especially in the high end. G-Hubsoftwareof course allows you to fine-tune your listening through several profiles, but also an equalizer. It is possible to directly record your settings on the headphones. Logitech also turns to players with profiles for FPS or MOBA. There are six in all.
But now let's move on to sound DTS: Headphone X 2.0, big selling point for the Logitech G935 . Spatial sound makes it possible to better understand the positioning of various sound sources, at least on paper.
In practice, the execution is very well done by Logitech. Whether in FPS, RTS or racing games, the placement of enemies is well reproduced in space . In addition to contributing to the atmosphere, the spatialization allows to gain a certain advantage when an enemy rushes on our backs or on the sides. Here again, the G-Hub software makes it possible to refine the listening thanks to several profiles: front , wide or traditional. Everyone will find his account.
A word on the microphone. The latter is of good quality. Like the transducers, it increases in size, from 4 mm to 6 mm. The sound produced is very pleasant, with a cancellation of ambient noise more than decent. It will therefore be perfect for multiplayer games.
The sound part is thus a great success for this high-end gaming headset . Logitech signs here a beautiful piece that clearly deserves its place in the top of the basket.
Autonomy
If the autonomy of the G933 seemed a little limited, then take your turn on the G935. It keeps exactly the same specifications, namely 8h with activated lighting and 12h without . A little light time for current standards, especially when competitors like the SteelSeries Arctis 7 offer more than 20 hours of autonomy ...But there is a big advantage to not neglect on the headset Logitech: its removable battery . It hides in the right atrium and withdraws very simply when needed. Rare are the manufacturers to opt for a removable battery nowadays, the Swiss thus earns points for its performance. Also note that the headset works wired even if the battery is flat.
Conclusion
As you can see, the Logitech G935 does not reinvent the wheel. This premium gaming headset retains even some of its older flaws, namely a slightly too light autonomy and especially squeaks in the structure. The long-term strength is difficult to gauge ...Apart from that, this circum-aural helmet remains of excellent quality. The sound is well controlled, offering beautiful sensations with the virtualized 7.1. We are quickly immersed in games and we stay many hours thanks to the comfort of the G935. It is heavy, but it feels little, which demonstrates once again the great experience of the manufacturer.
If you are looking for a good helmet for the game, then this Logitech G935 is clearly worth considering. However, we advise you to invest if you own the G933, the differences are too small to justify an investment of almost 200 €.
